The Rise of Prometim: A Story of Growth and Determination

In 2014, amidst the dynamic and challenging landscape of Angola’s Oil & Gas sector, Prometim was founded. Its inception was driven by a vision—to enhance local content and carve a space in a market heavily dominated by multinational giants. At its helm, the CEO and founding partners brought years of expertise in industrial maintenance, prepared to take on what would prove to be a formidable challenge.

Prometim’s breakthrough began with a subcontractor role in the Luanda Refinery shutdown, paving the way for securing its general maintenance contract. This milestone allowed the company to build skilled multidisciplinary teams in mechanical maintenance, electricity, instrumentation and key supporting services.

In 2017, TOTAL EP Angola entrusted Prometim with crucial contracts for valve maintenance and workshop activities for Block 17 assets. This partnership expanded over the years to include Diesel engine maintenance and flexible hose manufacturing.

Between 2017 and 2020, Prometim focused on consolidating its operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality service and strengthening its reputation. By 2020, a strategic commercial initiative led to rapid expansion, securing contracts with major industry players like TOTAL, BP/ENI, and Exxon, while collaborating with key operators such as Saipem and SBM in Angola.

From its modest beginnings in 2014 to its position today as a trusted name in industrial maintenance, Prometim’s journey stands as a testament to resilience, expertise, and the determination to compete at the highest level.

The Evolution of Prometim: A Legacy of Maintenance and Construction

From its inception, Prometim has remained committed to excellence in industrial maintenance. Rooted in the Oil & Gas sector, the company specializes in mechanical maintenance for static and rotating equipment, including valves, pumps, compressors, engines, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, piping, and structures. It has also expanded into Electricity & Instrumentation to ensure operational efficiency for its clients.

Maintenance at Prometim is a gateway to added value. Recognizing the interconnected needs of its partners, the company integrated procurement services to ensure the timely supply of essential parts and materials, enhancing project execution with precision and reliability.

Prometim also introduced manpower supply services, offering skilled professionals from around the world. This allows clients to retain resource management while benefiting from a global talent pool, ensuring expertise in every area.

With a measured approach to financial risk, Prometim has proven its ability to successfully handle EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects while maintaining stability. Its unwavering commitment ensures every project is completed on time and within budget, earning the trust of clients and partners.

Beyond Oil & Gas, Prometim has diversified into facility maintenance, managing buildings and smaller industrial sites. Specializing in hydraulic systems, HVAC, and electrical services, this expansion broadened the company’s reach to more industries.

Investing in People: The Heart of Prometim’s Success

Prometim has always understood that its strength lies in its people. As an African company, it prioritizes local talent, actively recruiting and training technicians to build expertise from within. This commitment led to the creation of the Prometim Academy, where specialized training, developed with technological partners, enhances both technical and soft skills that are essential for service excellence.

The academy fosters continuous learning and professional growth, equipping employees with emotional intelligence, communication, teamwork, and customer orientation. Prometim’s dedication to its workforce has resulted in strong employee retention, driven by a supportive environment and servant leadership. More than a company, Prometim has built a thriving community united by a vision of excellence and innovation.

Prometim’s Legacy of Growth and Commitment

For Prometim, success is best measured not only by financial figures and continuous expansion but by the retention of contracts and clients, and long-term partnerships established with major industry leaders such as  TOTAL, SONANGOL, ENI, AZULE, and EXXON and major operators such as SAIPEM and SBM. These relationships are a testament to the trust and confidence clients place in Prometim’s expertise, driven by efficiency and reliability.

This journey of excellence and commitment continues to shape Prometim’s legacy, ensuring that every milestone achieved lays the groundwork for even greater accomplishments ahead.

Prometim’s Expansion Across Africa: A New Era of Growth

For years, Prometim’s story was deeply rooted in Angola, where the company built a strong reputation for excellence in industrial maintenance. However, the ambition to expand beyond national borders was always part of its vision. In 2020, despite the global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and closed borders, Prometim took a bold step forward by expanding its operations into the Republic of Congo.

This pivotal move was marked by the acquisition of AMC (Atelier Mécanique du Congo), a specialized local company with expertise in rotating equipment maintenance. With strong partnerships already in place with industry giants such as TOTAL, ENI, and Saipem, AMC proved to be the perfect foundation for Prometim’s regional growth. The acquisition also led to the creation of a new brand for rotating equipment maintenance — AMC Brand — solidifying Prometim’s identity in the field of advanced rotating mechanics. This specialization created a valuable synergy, enabling the transfer of highly technical expertise to Prometim’s existing workshops in Angola.

Today, AMC Congo boasts a team of highly skilled technicians, reinforcing the company’s commitment to excellence and expertise in the local market.

Building on this success, Prometim has accelerated its internationalization strategy. In 2024, the company expanded into Tanzania, Uganda, and Namibia, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. These new establishments are laying the groundwork for continued growth and unlocking opportunities in emerging markets with significant potential for industrial maintenance and engineering solutions.

This journey of expansion is not merely about growth—it is a testament to Prometim’s vision of shaping the industry across Africa, strengthening its brand, and fostering local expertise in every country where it operates.

The company invests in energy-efficient equipment, low-emission machinery, and waste management strategies, including optimized material use and industrial waste recycling. Additionally, Prometim supports eco-friendly procurement by sourcing sustainable materials, reinforcing its dedication to green practices.
