With the new Sri Lanka and UAE tourism accord, the two countries have formally set up a strategic framework for cooperation. This agreement was signed during the high-level ministerial meeting in Dubai. It will allow Emirates sovereign funds and private investors to direct their investments in the Sri Lankan hospitality market. The countries' desire is to promote the hospitality industry and develop travel routes between the Arabian Gulf and South Asia.

Current air connectivity provides a sound basis for developing cross-border travel.

• It is estimated that there will be over one hundred direct flights every week connecting Colombo and the main airports in the UAE.

• During the first five months of 2026, 43333 Sri Lankans arrived in the UAE. In 2025, there were more than 153000 tourists from Sri Lanka who visited the UAE.

Strategic Collaboration Between Eco-Friendly Resorts and Luxurious Hospitality

The collaboration aims at the practical sharing of knowledge in the area of luxury hospitality management, using ecological technologies, and building eco-friendly resorts.
