Manchester United, Interpath Advisory, cost-cutting, lay off, reductions

In order to restructure operations and reinvest in the first squad, Manchester United plans to lay off 250 employees and engage Interpath Advisory.

One of the wealthiest football teams in the world, Manchester United, has hired Interpath Advisory to manage a large cost-cutting project. Under the leadership of INEOS's Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club plans to cut 25% of its 1,112 employees, or 250 people. The goal of the reorganization is to free up money for first team investments and facility upgrades.

In an effort to increase productivity and find cost savings, Ratcliffe, who purchased a minority share of the club from the Glazer family in December 2023, recruited Interpath Advisory. This action is a component of a larger plan to improve financial results and reallocate resources to the team.

Many say that even with the significant layoffs, the club's record turnover rate and recent high-profile transfer expenditures—like the expensive signing of Antony—may make the financial gains insignificant. The choice has caused controversy, especially in light of the women's team's seeming neglect—despite their recent victories, they now live in temporary accommodations.

The move by Manchester United is a reflection of larger initiatives to upgrade facilities and prioritize investing in football success and operational efficiency.
