The Delhi Government and Prasar Bharati partner to transform the national capital into a global media, entertainment, and AVGC hub.
The Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation Limited (DTTDC) and Prasar Bharati recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Bharat Mandapam. The agreement envisions developing the national capital as a major hub for the media and entertainment industry. The project’s planning, funding, and execution would be overseen by a joint coordination committee comprising members from both organizations.
Furthermore, Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra noted that this MoU signifies Delhi’s efforts to become a preferred destination for investors, producers, and creative professionals from India and abroad under the stewardship of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. These plans would be ably supported by the city’s strong talent, technical expertise, and creative energy. Mishra also outlined plans to bring together diverse areas such as film, television, animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics under the umbrella of a single integrated hub. The project would also involve developing studios, post-production facilities, and an Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) hub.
Moreover, Gupta highlighted the initiative’s role in strengthening the creative economy in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India’. Delhi would mark its place on the world map as a global hub for media and entertainment. Officials stated that the project would focus on training, skill development, and innovation while creating job opportunities for young people and supporting growth in the sector. According to CIO Bulletin, the signing of the MoU by the Delhi Government is a positive step towards harnessing the capital’s talent pool and technical expertise to usher in the media and entertainment industry, drawing from the tapestry of the city’s cultural legacy.
