SpaceX Launches New Batch of Starlink Satellites, Adding to Space Network Expansion

Falcon 9 successfully launched Starlink satellites, extending SpaceX's space network, with a smooth landing and beautiful weather.

Early Sunday morning on December 8, one of SpaceX's brand new Falcon 9 rocket launches streaked through the dark sky as it signaled deployment of another batch of Starlink satellites. Liftoff took place exactly at 12:12 a. m. ET from Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 40 and saw the rocket fly southeast into space.

The mission, enlarging SpaceX's Starlink constellation, went without a hitch due to almost perfect weather. The 45th Weather Squadron predicted better than 95 percent favorable odds for the weather, and that turned out to be true for smooth ascending conditions. Roughly 8.5 minutes after liftoff, the rocket's first-stage booster successfully touched down on the A Shortfall of Gravitas drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.

This flight was even more remarkable as the Falcon 9 rocket had flown before on the Falcon Heavy launch in June, making its second flight. Besides enhancing the global space internet services through Starlink, it made a contribution to further building a network of infrastructure to keep connected satellites in space.

With SpaceX pushing boundaries further in space traveling, this mission shows how critical reliable, widespread space communications networks are. The kind of space services that Starlink provides would actually also keep missions, like that of Fram2 in 2025, connected during their polar orbits, apart from supporting remote areas on Earth.

That was the defining launch that makes SpaceX the future of space technology, providing critical service both on this planet and others.
