CSIR Transfers Four Native Technologies

From smart rural water systems to critical defense upgrades, CSIR’s latest technology transfers signal a bold step towards self-reliant innovation.

In a significant development that highlights India’s growing focus on homegrown innovation, CSIR transfers four indigenous technologies to industry partners while launching a game-changing IoT-enabled system for rural water management. The move, as covered by CIO Bulletin, underscores the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research’s (CSIR) commitment to turning cutting-edge research into practical solutions that benefit both society and national security.

The Technology Transfer Event, held in New Delhi and organized by CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIR-CSIO), Chandigarh, saw multiple key agreements. Pump Academy Private Limited in Bengaluru received licenses to manufacture three important tools: the Induction Motor Stethoscope (MSCOPE), Portable & Universal Motor-cum-Pump Performance Monitor (PU-MPPM), and the i-Power Quality Analyzer (IPQA). Meanwhile, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in Panchkula was handed the optical module and beam combiner assembly for the Head-Up Display (HUD) used in SU-30 aircraft programmes.

Adding to the momentum, CSIR-CSIO commercially launched an Affordable IoT-enabled Water Service Delivery, Measurement and Monitoring Sensing System for rural areas through Biometry Technologies Pvt. Ltd. This smart system promises to revolutionize how villages track water quality, quantity, and service delivery in real time.

Prof. Shantanu Bhattacharya, Director of CSIR-CSIO, shared his thoughts on the achievement: “This reflects CSIR-CSIO’s sustained partnership with Indian industry and its growing contribution to indigenous defense manufacturing.”

The laboratory also received ₹ 1.67 crore in royalty from BEL during FY26 for defence technologies including HUD systems, drogue lights, and alignment tools. Dr. N Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR, praised the efforts, noting that successful commercialization of indigenous technologies remains central to CSIR’s mission of delivering real value to industry and society.
