Cathy Smith takes the position of CFO at Starbucks after Rachel Ruggeri's successful 20-year leadership at the company.
The appointment of Cathy Smith as Starbucks Chief Financial Officer replaces Rachel Ruggeri who previously held this position since nearly 20 years. Since joining Starbucks in 2001 Ruggeri took up financial leadership positions that directed the company through its ups and downs.
Starbucks Chairman and CEO Brian Niccol acknowledge that Rachel maintained many influential positions throughout her time at the company with consistent integrity alongside performance-oriented leadership. Through her long tenure at the company Rachel has guided Starbucks through its most challenging periods and assisted in multiple important achievements.
The executive leadership at Starbucks benefits greatly from Cathy Smith's vital business experience which she developed as CFO at Nordstrom. Smith has excelled through multiple senior financial responsibilities at prominent companies which include Target, Express Scripts, Walmart and GameStop with several more. Smith has accumulated knowledge through his work within retail along with global management along with corporate revitalization experience.
Niccol proclaimed that Cathy brings spectacular expertise and practical wisdom to the role. The company looks forward to having Smith join Niccol in leading the Back to Starbucks plan. Smith will start her position during the next month.
Ruggeri closed a twenty-year chapter at Starbucks after she made a significant contribution to its financial direction and business expansion during her time as vice president.
