DLA Energy student program North Carolina A&T student Kaleyse Belton enhances the efficiency of defenses with the AI-enhanced data analytics.
A fourth-year student of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Kaleyse Belton, assists the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Energy toward the improvement of data analytics using artificial intelligence.
In the course of the Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) program, Belton served as a management assistant and data analyst trainee between June and July. She used AI to simplify data analytics in the Bulk Petroleum Supply Chain Services division of DLA Energy and directed analysis to management and processing automation, which could make the department more efficient and less repetitive.
This internship gave me the opportunity to build upon my prior procurement role and help in working with valuable data analysis projects in support of the Department of Defense, Belton noted.
In addition to analyzing data in the Acquisition Talent Management System (DATMS), she also worked on supply chains and AI-based solutions that enhance operations. Belton has also taken part in leadership program activities and has presented AI-driven programs in the instruction shed at the DLA Energy Acquisition Workforce Symposium.
Her initiative and capacity to adjust fast were applauded by DLA Energy leaders. Kaleyse not only learned quickly but also gave helpful tips on how to use AI in data analytics, which are characteristic of grit and a potential leader, added Ditu Kasuyi, Chief of the Acquisition Workforce Development Division.
The experience transformed Belton and she felt that it enriched her knowledge about the government and the relationship between technology, supply chains and national defense.
