Rather than focus on high end, limited edition models or on automakers producing classic EVs using ES supplier business, RBW EV Cars launches an EV cars supplier business for electric systems.
British firm RBW EV Cars, which is recognized for its conversion of vintage cars to electric vehicles, announced on Friday the launch of a supplier business to offer its system and components to other vehicle manufacturers. The purpose of this endeavor is to ramp high end limited edition models in the changing automotive landscape of the industry.
RBW, led by CEO Peter Swain, is collaborating with three major car manufacturers on exclusive projects. Founded six years ago, the company has been customizing fiberglass shells of MGB and MGB GT cars into electric vehicles with a range of 155 miles, costing over £100,000.
Up to this moment, RBW has managed to attract 18 million dollars from the investors and has also resumed activity in a plant located in Lichfield, England. A second one in Danville, Virginia, will be launched during the first phase of 2025. The enterprise intends to manufacture 300 of its self-branded electric vehicles each year and also provide up to 3,000 electric systems for other car manufacturers within its Spirit EV division.
Automakers can buy RBW's certified EV systems for $40,000 and $50,000 instead of developing their own, saving millions. Swain said rear-drive units can be fitted into classic car shells like Mustangs and Aston Martins. This allows car manufacturers to reintroduce classic EVs and re-engage customers with their brands.
