Poor VFX and Audio Quality Reportedly Behind Postponement of Yash’s Upcoming Film Toxic

From VFX Refinements to Geopolitical Strategy: Superstar Yash and Director Geetu Mohandas Navigate Production Hurdles and Box Office Rivalries to Ensure Toxic Meets Global Expectations This June.

Sandalwood’s upcoming big-ticket feature ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ starring Yash was earlier confirmed to see a delayed release on June 4, more than two months after its initially slated release on March 19. Initial reports indicated to the ongoing tensions in West Asia being the reason behind the film being postponed. However, new reports have surfaced about superstar Yash being purportedly dissatisfied with the quality of VFX work and inferior audio quality in several important scenes. Following an internal quality screening of the film on March 4 attended by Yash, director Geetu Mohandas, and others from the production team, Yash expressed his displeasure with the existing audio-technical effort.

Moreover, the film ran into choppy waters even earlier with the first song Tabaahi being released only in the audio version due to unsatisfactory editing of the video variant. The film makers had earlier cited the release of the highly anticipated Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge being another reason behind pushing back the release date. It is interesting to note that with Dhurandhar being banned in most Gulf countries due to a supposed ‘negative portrayal’ of Pakistan; its sequel is all but likely to face similar screening restrictions in the region. Nevertheless, the Gulf market remains a significant source of revenue for most Indian filmmakers and Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic is no exception.

Thus, the film makers have taken a cautious approach by looking to circumvent the negative impact of the West Asia conflict and the release of a potential competitor in Dhurandhar 2 at the same time. Now having imvaluable time to make technical improvements, the film starring Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Akshay Oberoi looks to capitalize on its status of being among the most anticipated films of 2026 to make a strong debut in box offices worldwide.
