IBM Brings New AI Tools to US Open

At the US Open in 2025, IBM is launching AI-powered Match Chat, SlamTracker, and Key Points as part of maximizing fan interaction and insights.

The official technology partner at the US Open, IBM, has deployed three new artificial intelligence-based features to deliver the enhanced fan experience in Flushing Meadows. The Match Chat tool will allow an interactive AI assistant in the course and following the end of all 254 singles matches. Fans are allowed to request match-related surveys, starting with head-to-head match records to key statistics and even proper enunciation of names.

Based on a similar feature, IBM SlamTracker will provide real-time win probability of all matches in every singles match. It screens player stats, predictions of the experts, and momentum changes and the AI-provided commentary provides audio and subtitles in English through match highlights.

The third feature, the Key Points, which is enabled by IBM Watsonx, generates highlights of articles, tournament statistics, and match reports using a short account of three bullets on the US Open app and web pages, a popular way of catching up on the game that was missed by fans.

Jonathan Adashek, the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at IBM, was keen to highlight that these innovations are in a wider strategy to change how fans will be engaged. He stated, "We are utilizing the same powerful technologies that we have been collaborating on with our client partners across various industries to meet the needs of tennis fans."

These enhancements display that IBM is still demonstrating how AI is applicable in enhancing the sports-watching experience to make the US Open more interactive, informative, and reachable by the rest of the world.
