Avicenna Clinic: Redefining Spine Health Worldwide with Minimally Invasive Procedures, 35 Years of International Expertise, and a Patient-First Approach

Spinal pain has quietly become one of the most common reasons people lose sleep, mobility, and confidence in everyday life. For many, it begins as a small discomfort—an ache after long hours at work or stiffness ignored for months—until it grows into something that affects every movement, every routine, and every hope for a normal day. Too often, patients move from one therapy to another, searching for answers that never quite arrive. What they truly need is clarity, expertise, and care that sees the whole person behind the symptoms.

At CIO Bulletin, we had the distinct privilege of interviewing Dr. med. Munther Sabarini, Founder and Spine Surgeon of Avicenna Clinic. He shared powerful insights into how he and his team of highly experienced surgeons continue to strengthen the clinic’s mission by empowering patients to live without pain and regain the confidence, mobility, and quality of life they deserve.

The Genesis of Avicenna Clinic

The story of Avicenna Clinic began with a clear vision held by its founder, Dr. med. Munther Sabarini. After years of seeing patients struggle with slow diagnoses and incomplete treatments, he felt compelled to create a place where care was faster, more accurate, and truly centered around the individual.

Sharing the heart of his inspiration, he says:

“It has always been my dream to establish my own hospital according to my vision of medicine: the patient is at the center of our care, diagnosis should be made as soon as possible, and from the very beginning we start with innovative treatment that offers maximum results with minimal risks, taking into consideration the patient’s age, general condition, profession, and respecting their traditions and religion.”

Fast-forward to today, that dream has evolved into Avicenna Clinic—an internationally trusted spine center built on compassion, precision, and deep respect for every patient.

A One-Stop Spine Center Backed by Decades of Global Expertise

For more than 35 years, the physicians at Avicenna Clinic have been shaping a standard of spinal care respected across borders. Dr. Sabarini has built a centre where diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation come together under one roof. The clinic offers a wide spectrum of in - and outpatient minimally invasive options, bringing everything a patient may need into one place, efficiently, precisely, and without compromise.

“Because of our experience we can easily find the best treatment for every patient. That is why our hospital is the only one, which offer so many procedures in oneplace,” explains Dr. Sabarini.

This blend of extensive international expertise and all-inclusive care has created an environment where patients around the world place their trust, knowing they are treated by specialists who have spent decades mastering the science and art of spine surgery.

A Global Team United by One Unbreakable Principle: Patient First

Avicenna Clinic has become a destination for patients from every corner of the world, built on a foundation of diversity, empathy, and unwavering patient-centered care. Dr. med. Munther Sabarini believes true compassion begins with understanding—and his team embodies this belief daily.

“Our staff itself consists of qualified assistants from more than 10 nationalities and different cultures, all together we speak 13 languages but we have the same language: patient first! We speak 13 languages, we come from more than 10 nationalities and cultures, but what connects us is one simple principle: patient first,” says Dr. Sabarini.

This shared ethos ensures that every patient regardless of language or background receives care that is deeply personal, respectful, and compassionate.

Advanced Care Rooted in True Understanding and Technology

At Avicenna Clinic, precision and personalization begin long before a scan or surgical plan. They begin with understanding the patient. Dr. Sabarini has built a philosophy where listening comes first and technology follows with purpose.

“We believe that the best approach is to listen to the patient and to understand their pain. Of course, a neurological examination during the consultation is very helpful. However, to determine the exact reason for the complaints, we perform further examinations like MRI, CT, X-Rays, Doppler sonography and more. We are lucky that our hospital has an open MRI. Only then will we be able to work on a treatment concept with the best outcome.”

This commitment to accuracy is matched by results. With a 97% patient satisfaction rate and thousands of success stories, Dr. Sabarini credits the clinic’s success to clarity, experience, and direct access to specialists. As he firmly states:

“Understand the pain to treat it”! But also our long-year experience, direct contact to the specialists here is uncomplicated.”

Advancing Care, Honoring Humanity for a New Era of Spine Care

At Avicenna Clinic, innovation is never pursued for its own sake, it is guided by one goal: making treatment easier, safer, and more effective for every patient. Dr. Sabarini, has spent decades balancing advanced technology with the human touch that defines great medicine.

In his own words, he shares how this balance comes to life every day:

“Yes, also we are working in this field of spine surgery since many years, and we are interested in new methods. Let me give you an example. You know a herniated disc, which usually causes severe pain, and will be treated surgically if conservative treatment did not help, or in cases with weakness, numbness, etc. Microsurgery is nowadays the standard. Under general anesthesia and through a small skin incision, we remove the herniated part of the disc which presses on the nerve with the help of a special surgical microscope and special instruments. But today in many cases this is not necessary, because now we use a new minimally invasive procedure, so-called laser decompression: there is no general anesthesia, no skin incision, but a puncture with a small cannula, performed exactly under CT control. We reach the disc hernia and with the help of laser energy we shrink the disc herniation. This procedure takes around 30 minutes and has a high success rate.”

When it comes to spine care Avicenna Clinic, has always believed that innovation must walk hand in hand with precision. “As mentioned above, we provide laser decompression for lumbar and cervical spine. The method is called PLDD (Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression). Another method is thermal denervation, mostly used in patients with chronic back pain.”

Alongside these techniques, Avicenna Clinic also offers spinal cord stimulation, a method that modulates pain transmission and brings hope to patients with long-standing discomfort. Over the years, the clinic has built huge experience in treatment of cervical spine disorders, from spinal canal stenosis and disc hernia to tumors, cysts, syringomyelia, neck-head pain, and more.

Through this blend of long-standing experience and modern minimally invasive techniques, Avicenna Clinic continues to bring together the best of both worlds, advanced science supported by genuine human care.

The Road Ahead

For Dr. Sabarini, the future of Avicenna Clinic isn’t about chasing expansion—it’s about deepening excellence. “Avicenna Clinic is always working on the better qualification of our staff. We are not going to enlarge the hospital or open representations abroad, but we take intensive care of what we have, improving our quality, learning more, and maintaining work/life balance,” concludes Dr. med. Munther Sabarini.

As the clinic continues refining its expertise and strengthening its people, its future stands anchored in a simple, powerful promise: to remain a place where world-class spine care grows not by getting bigger, but by getting better, every single day.
