Interview Highlights

Can you share the powerful origin story of CobbleStone Software? What inspired its founding in 1995 after that major $2 million contract violation incident?

CobbleStone Software was founded in 1995. The need for our contract software solution became apparent when a leading company violated an agreement and had to settle the dispute for over two million dollars. That incident led to the creation of our mission: to help organizations avoid violations of agreements while providing a better solution to manage contracts and obligations.

CobbleStone is among the founding forces in contract lifecycle management software. CobbleStone is regularly praised and designated as a leader in analyst reports and regularly wins awards across industries and sectors.

Could you outline your core products like CobbleStone Contract Insight® Enterprise and VISDOM® AI, and what innovative features set them apart in the contract lifecycle management space?

CobbleStone's flagship product is CobbleStone Contract Insight, an end-to-end contract lifecycle management (CLM) solution. It offers a comprehensive suite of features for managing your organization's contracts and commitments. The Enterprise Edition of CobbleStone Contract Insight is available in both SaaS and on-premise options and supports contract lifecycle management from intake to renewal, flexible configuration, seamless integration, organization-wide collaboration and connectivity, and granular performance tracking.

CobbleStone Contract Insight is powered by VISDOM® AI, CobbleStone’s advanced agentic AI engine that can help generate clauses, rewrite text, translate text into different languages, and answer questions about all aspects of contracts, legal agreements, and the CobbleStone Contract Insight software itself—to name just a few capabilities.

Your platform supports millions of contract transactions globally. What core philosophy has guided CobbleStone’s growth while maintaining trust across such a diverse customer base?

Given that contracts are managed across the world with limitless vendors, counterparties, and partners, we are proud to take an internationally agile approach to contract management software. CobbleStone’s philosophy is to provide a solution that scales with organizations’ needs, as in an increasingly globalized world; organizations need to communicate across time zones, borders, and language barriers.

We’re also planning to add Playbook support, more Vendor-Client Gateway enhancements, and expanded AI features—achieving near parity with our Word add-in.

Collaboration gets a big lift: users will be able to assign tasks to @mentioned colleagues directly in comments, major document-collaboration upgrades will streamline signing (including auto-combining and cleanup of pages), and signature placeholders on templates will allow users to place them once rather than every time.
