At CIO Bulletin, we had the distinct honor of interviewing Martin Hubert, the visionary Founder and CEO of Freightgate. He shared powerful insights into how the company is building logistics solutions that truly reflect real-world operations, bringing every mode onto one platform at a global scale and helping leaders move from guesswork to predictive decision-making with confidence.
Interview Highlights
Freightgate has been at the forefront of logistics technology since 1994. Can you take us back to the story behind its inception and the vision that continues to drive the company today?
When I founded Freightgate in 1994, the logistics industry was heavily fragmented, largely manual, and lacked real-time visibility. At the time, global trade was accelerating, yet the technology infrastructure supporting it lagged significantly behind. I saw an opportunity to build a platform that could unify logistics processes, improve transparency, and empower companies to make smarter, faster decisions.
From the beginning, our vision was to create a digital backbone for global commerce—one that connects shippers, carriers, and partners seamlessly. That vision still drives us today. While the technology has evolved—from early web-based systems to today’s cloud-native, AI-enabled platforms—the core mission remains unchanged: to simplify complexity and turn logistics into a strategic advantage rather than a cost center.
What are the flagship products and services in your Logistics Cloud Platform (TMS), and what specific capabilities set Freightgate apart?
Our Logistics Cloud Platform is built as a modular, end-to-end Transportation Management System (TMS) designed for global scale. Key components include transportation planning and execution, real-time visibility, freight procurement, rate management, analytics, and carbon tracking.
What truly differentiates Freightgate is our ability to orchestrate across the entire logistics ecosystem. We provide a unified platform that integrates seamlessly with ERP systems, carriers, and third-party providers, enabling real-time collaboration and data exchange.
Additionally, our platform is highly configurable and data-driven. Clients can model complex logistics scenarios, optimize routes dynamically, and gain actionable insights through advanced analytics. We also emphasize sustainability—helping organizations measure and reduce their carbon footprint as part of everyday operations.
Ultimately, we don’t just provide tools—we deliver a strategic platform that enables companies to transform logistics into a competitive differentiator.
Innovation is central to your identity. Could you share some of the most impactful innovations Freightgate has introduced?

Over the years, we’ve consistently focused on innovations that deliver measurable business value. One of our early breakthroughs was enabling real-time shipment visibility long before it became an industry standard. This fundamentally changed how companies manage risk and performance.
More recently, we’ve introduced predictive analytics and AI-driven optimization into our platform. This allows our clients to anticipate disruptions, optimize capacity, and make proactive decisions rather than reacting after the fact.
We’ve also invested heavily in sustainability innovation. Our carbon intelligence capabilities enable companies to track emissions at a granular level and make more environmentally responsible logistics decisions.
Another key innovation is our collaborative network approach. By connecting all stakeholders—shippers, carriers, and partners—on a single platform, we create a shared source of truth that enhances efficiency and trust across the supply chain.

Many organizations still operate with fragmented tools and reactive systems. How does Freightgate enable businesses to transition to predictive, data-driven decision-making?
The transition starts with visibility and data integrity. Without a unified view of operations, it’s impossible to move beyond reactive management. Freightgate consolidates data from multiple sources into a single platform, creating a real-time, end-to-end view of the supply chain.
From there, we apply advanced analytics and machine learning to turn that data into insights. For example, we can predict delays based on historical patterns, weather data, and carrier performance. We can also recommend optimal routing strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities.
But technology alone isn’t enough. We work closely with our clients to align processes, define KPIs, and embed data-driven decision-making into their operations. It’s a combination of platform, analytics, and partnership that enables true transformation.

Freightgate emphasizes ‘best-in-class’ and ‘customer-centric’ solutions. How do your long-term client relationships influence product development?
Our clients are at the center of everything we do. Many of our relationships span decades, and that continuity provides invaluable insight into evolving industry needs.
We take a highly collaborative approach to product development. Client feedback directly informs our roadmap, and we often co-innovate with strategic partners. This ensures that our solutions are not only technologically advanced but also practical and aligned with real-world challenges.
Because we serve a diverse global client base—from large enterprises to fast-growing organizations—we gain a broad perspective on industry trends. This allows us to anticipate needs and deliver solutions that are both forward-looking and immediately impactful.
As supply chains become more digital and interconnected, what role do emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and advanced analytics play in Freightgate’s offerings?

These technologies are foundational to the future of logistics, and they are deeply embedded in our platform strategy.
AI enables us to move from descriptive to predictive and even prescriptive analytics. It helps optimize routing, forecast demand, and identify risks before they materialize. IoT enhances visibility by providing real-time data from shipments, assets, and sensors across the supply chain.
Advanced analytics ties everything together, transforming raw data into actionable insights. Our goal is to create an intelligent logistics ecosystem where decisions are continuously optimized based on real-time conditions.
Looking ahead, we see these technologies converging to enable autonomous logistics operations—where systems can adapt dynamically with minimal human intervention while still providing full transparency and control.
Winning recognition in the ‘Innovation Excellence Awards 2026’ highlights your leadership. What does this recognition mean to Freightgate?
This recognition is both an honor and a validation of our long-standing commitment to innovation. It reflects the hard work of our team and the trust our clients place in us.
More importantly, it reinforces our belief that innovation must be purposeful. It’s not about adopting technology for its own sake—it’s about solving real problems and delivering tangible value.
Awards like this also motivate us to continue pushing boundaries. The logistics industry is undergoing rapid transformation, and we are committed to staying at the forefront of that evolution.
Looking toward the next chapter, what is next for Freightgate?
We are focused on expanding the intelligence and connectivity of our platform. This includes deeper AI capabilities, enhanced automation, and greater integration across the global logistics ecosystem.
Sustainability will also remain a key priority. We are investing in new tools to help organizations achieve their environmental goals while maintaining operational efficiency.
Additionally, we are exploring new service models that combine technology with advisory expertise, helping clients accelerate their digital transformation journeys.
The next chapter for Freightgate is about enabling smarter, more resilient, and more sustainable supply chains at a global scale.
