Visa and Trip.com launch APAC Global Travel Card Program

Visa and Trip.com Group Partner to Revolutionize APAC Travel with Seamless Virtual Payment Solutions and Global B2B Connectivity

With the rise of international travel across the Asia Pacific, convenient options for booking and paying for travel are in high demand among tourists. With the burgeoning travel industry being a key driver of several economies in the region, Visa, a global leader in digital payments, and Trip.com have announced a partnership to introduce a virtual travel card program. This collaboration is facilitated by Trip.com’s fintech arm, TripLink. The program promises to enable faster, secure, and efficient payment processing for suppliers, hotels, and agencies. This, in turn, would elevate the overall experience for travellers.

Furthermore, Visa and Trip.com Group would collaborate on three primary operational aspects, as follows:

  • Trip.com Group’s global operations would henceforth accept Visa virtual card credentials, thereby streamlining B2B payment flows, reducing manual processing needs, and making data more visible for travel partners.

  • Build on the rising trend of international travel and provide further impetus to the industry’s growth through joint marketing efforts that promote more destinations and experiences for a diverse range of travelers.

  • Allowing travellers to book and pay easily without geographical restrictions by improving both card acceptance and payment reliability.

At the same time, the partnership is also expected to leverage the growing confidence of travelers in undertaking international travel. Visa’s research indicates 55% of Asia Pacific consumers are planning to travel in the next six months, with the most popular destinations being Japan, China, and Australia. Expressing optimism about the collaboration, according to Arturo Planell, Group Country Manager, Regional Southeast Asia, and SVP Global/Regional Sellers & Digital Sales, “Travel should be exciting, not complicated. By working with Trip.com Group, we're making payments simpler and more secure for travelers and the travel industry, removing friction and delivering a seamless experience across the global travel ecosystem.
