Salesforce Adds Generative AI to Slackbot

Salesforce interprets Slackbot, powered by generative AI, to make it even more productive and easier to collaborate in the enterprise.

Salesforce is also enhancing its Slack with generative AI in Slackbot, its in-built virtual assistant. Business+ and Enterprise+ subscribers have just come with new features, and they will provide a significant move towards the integration of AI right into the workplace communication.

Salesforce suggests that now Slackbot will be able to reveal the information that is relevant to the conversation, files, and channels, strictly adhering to user permissions and access policies. The assistant is also able to extract information from integrated tools like Google Drive, Box, Atlassian Confluence, and Salesforce systems, and thus the user saves time that would be wasted searching in more applications.

The improved Slackbot now includes the large language model Claude by Anthropic, although Salesforce is experimenting with other technologies in its larger AI strategy. Company officials highlighted that the tools would improve productivity but not carry out the functions of enterprise cloud software.

The Salesforce leaders also observed that AI assistants that are not linked to an internal system, like the external chatbots, do not provide the necessary context to be used safely within an organization. Conversely, the organization incorporates Slackbot into its existing data environment.

Since Salesforce purchased Slack in 2021 at a price of 27.1 billion, the latter has become one of Salesforce’s cloud products that are growing most rapidly. According to the company, the new AI-powered Slackbot has already become the most rapidly adopted feature in Salesforce history, and people report that their time is saved and workflows become more efficient.
