Airbnb listings are prohibited from using indoor security cameras

Airbnb, an online platform for vacation rentals is removing internal security cameras from all worldwide listings, with hosts required to comply by the end of the month.

The online platform for vacation rentals, Airbnb, said on Monday that it is removing internal security cameras from all of its listings worldwide. Hosts will have until the end of the next month to comply. Previously, the company permitted people to rent out their properties to employ indoor security cameras in common areas, as long as the cameras were located in easily visible locations and were declared on the listing page. No matter their apparent use or visibility, these cameras are no longer allowed inside any Airbnb listing. Previously, they were only not allowed in bathrooms and bedrooms.

According to the San Francisco-based company, homeowners who list their homes on Airbnb and employ internal security cameras have until April 30 to take them down. The platform may keep their listing or account if users don't follow the rules. The majority of Airbnb listings should not be affected by the change, according to the business founded in 2017, which already has over 5 million hosts utilizing its technology. According to Airbnb, doorbell cameras and other outdoor security equipment are still permitted, but prospective visitors must be informed of their placement before signing a contract.
