Ukraine’s 25% subsidy on domestic machinery has driven UAH 10.5 billion in sales, modernizing the agrarian sector while fueling a local manufacturing boom.
The Ukrainian Government’s provision of 25% agriculture subsidy for purchasing agricultural machinery over the last two years has proven to be a success, with farmers purchasing equipment and machinery worth over UAH 10.5 billion under the “Made in Ukraine” policy. The Government reinstated this program a couple of years ago after it had not been in force for several years to support both the agrarian sector and domestic machine-building.
According to Oleksii Sobolev, Ukraine’s Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, this initiative has helped farmers to update their technical equipment, with more than 14,600 units of Ukrainian equipment being purchased in two years. Manufacturers have benefited at the same time through rising orders, which have incentivized businesses to join the Government’s initiative. Since April 2024, the list of equipment that the Government subsidizes for purchase has grown by more than 14 times. Among this includes 13,650 items from 147 Ukrainian manufacturers. Soil cultivation and sowing equipment, harvesters, grain –cleaning and elevator equipment, conveyors, grain dryers, vehicle scales, and other modern equipment are all covered.
Moreover, the program’s allocation was 1.8 billion UAH in 2026, with 382 agricultural producers who have submitted applications between December 2025 and February 2026 already being paid 126.1 million UAH in compensation. Additionally, 8,982 agricultural producers and agro-processing businesses benefited from the program from April 2024 to February 2026 to purchase 14,611 units of equipment. To facilitate these purchases, the state compensated 2.2 billion UAH. Further incentivizing the program, the Government announced that changes were being made to the initiative to allow drivers with licenses of categories CI,C,D1, and D to operate certain types of agricultural machinery without a tractor-driver’s license. CIO Bulletin views the Ukrainian Government’s program as succeeding in its objectives of driving demand for Ukrainian equipment while supporting the domestic manufacturing sector, in turn contributing to modernizing the agricultural fleet and developing the agro-processing sectors.
