Meta launches Oakley Meta Vanguard AI glasses, a combination of sports eyewear with real-time training insights, performance tracking and hands-free capture of video.
Meta is taking its AI wearables to the next level in the world of sports. Oakley Meta Vanguard unraveled at Connect 2025. Created with Oakley, the intelligent glasses are priced at $499 and blend the technology into sports goggles with features like the capability to train in a smart way.
Designed for extreme conditions, the Oakley Meta Vanguard employs Oakley's PRIZM™ lens technology to provide defense against the elements while remaining a helmet-friendly fit. The frames are dust- and water-resistant (IP67) for cycling as well as trail running and skiing.
Inside, the device has open-ear speakers, a five-microphone secondary array for wind noise reduction and up to nine hours of battery life with a charging case that extends the charge for 36 hours.
The highlight is integrating its Meta AI with Garmin and Strava, which provides real-time information such as heart rate and pace via hands-free voice commands and LED indicators. Garmin's Autocapture and Strava overlays are also used to add to tracking for performance and sharing video.
The 12MP wide-angle camera can record video with 3K band, slow motion, and hyperlapse, so the athlete can screenshot action without holding the hands.
The AI-enabled Oakley Meta Vanguard will be shipped starting October 21 from across the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Australia, and India, and it should occur in 2025.
