Vietnam expedites the process of green transformation through blockchain-based technology as a provider of improved transparency, digital trust, and sustainable economic growth.

The rapid development of Vietnam as the next digital powerhouse in the region and blockchain technology is the core of its sustainability and economic growth goals. The experts revealed blockchain and AI as the driving forces of a green transformation in Vietnam during the Open Innovation Day (OID) 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Blockchain is also being implemented to determine data provenance, provide transparency, and create confidence in the transitions of the country towards green operations. Already, authorities have made digital assets legal, and there is a boom in the investment in blockchain in manufacturing, smart cities, and digital payments.

These efforts by the government of Vietnam have resulted in a surge in the volumes of digital payments and preoccupation with blockchain-based methods of cross-border payment and food supply traceability, especially in the $3 trillion halal food market.

Even though there are some obstacles, particularly in terms of the lack of data infrastructure, the professionals are sure that the blockchain, with its non-tamperable design and transparent structure, can assist Vietnam in sustainable development, as well as strengthen digital sovereignty.
