BTS's first exhibition at SFMOMA is a delving blend of art and music organized by BTS's RM in collaboration with Korean and other international artists, displaying cross-cultural art.
BTS leader RM will have his first solo-curated exhibition in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) to merge his passion for art and music. On October 3, BigHit Music revealed that "RM X SFMOMA" will operate between October 2026 and February 2027 and will be the first cooperation between a K-pop artist and the renowned U.S. museum.
This exhibition will have about 200 works from RM's collection and the SFMOMA archives. There are paintings and sculptures as well as modern experimental work, giving the spectators and inhabitants a cross-cultural experience. Visitors will first see various works by renowned Korean contemporary artists and foreign masters.
As curator and simultaneously as RM, it was underlined that the purpose of the exhibition is to bridge East and West, Korea and the United States and psychic and cosmic points of view. It does not matter how to appreciate these works in any standard way, he said.
The chief curator at SFMOMA, Janet Bishop, hailed the union and pointed out the method it has in relating the music world and the world of art. The project will not only capture the attention of music lovers all over the world but also of the global art community, leading to an interaction between creative art and cultural utterance in a unique dialogue.
This historic exhibition highlights the dynamic nature of RM as an arriving force within the world of music and art and highlights how artists can widen their influence of creativity in their disciplines.
