From city-friendly commuters to premium SUVs, MG’s electric journey marks a major leap toward a greener, more affordable future.
MG Motors, now part of the JSW Group, has reached a remarkable milestone by crossing 1 lakh electric vehicle (EV) sales in India. In just five years since launching its first EV, the MG ZS EV, the brand has become a key player in India’s fast-growing electric mobility market.
The company’s lineup including the ZS EV, Comet EV, and Windsor EV has won over Indian consumers with its mix of performance, design, and affordability. Each model targets a unique audience: the compact Comet EV appeals to city commuters, while the Windsor, launched in 2024, has become MG’s biggest success yet.
The Windsor EV and its later Windsor Pro variant with an extended range, now account for nearly 70% of MG’s total sales. Between April and September 2025 alone, MG sold 26,640 electric cars, marking an impressive 220% year-on-year growth. Starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and offering a range of up to 449 km, the Windsor has redefined what affordable electric SUVs can offer.
Celebrating the milestone, Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India, credited customer trust and the team’s innovation-driven approach. With a 35% market share, MG Motors now aims for 70–80% of its sales to come from EVs, further powering India’s shift to clean and sustainable mobility.
