Powerball closes $1 billion

With no one matching all numbers to win the top prize, the Powerball jackpot increased their estimated win to $925 million on Wednesday, according to their website.

According to the game's website, the Powerball jackpot increased to an estimated $925 million on Wednesday after no one else matched all the numbers to win the top prize.

Wednesday night's draw yielded the following numbers: 1-7-46-47-63, with a Powerball of 7.

The prize was $850 million as of the drawing on Wednesday. Since nobody won, it will roll over and go up for the Saturday drawing instead.

According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which helps organize the lottery game, the $925 million jackpot—likely the amount going into the most recent drawing—is the fourth-largest in the 35-year history of the lottery game. The top three, which include the prize obtained in July, are all worth more than $1 billion.

The jackpot was predicted to be about $835 million after nobody took home the grand prize on Monday. Strong sales, according to game administrators, were the reason for the increase to $850 million.

The most recent jackpot winner was in California, who took home the $1.08 billion grand prize on July 19.

The third-largest in game history, that was. The highest prize ever won was $2.04 billion in 2022, also by a Californian; the second-largest prize was $1.586 billion in 2016, which was divided between three winning tickets.

The chance of winning the jackpot is one in 292.2 million people.
