Nepal adopted a biometric-based national identity card to improve governance service and security along with transparency through eliminating former system problems.
The national identity card plays an essential role in advancing sound governance according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung. While delivering a speech at Kaski District Administration Office Gurung classified this card as a "Super Citizenship Card" because it combines present-day scientific technologies.
The new legislation requires Social Security allowance recipients to adopt the national card as their official identity document for removing issues found in the previous citizenship cards according to Minister Gurung. The modern identity card establishes itself as a key component in banking operations as well as passport and governmental service functions because its advanced security features provide passengers protection from thieves.
The Kaski region received 27,716 distributed identity cards according to Bharatmani Pandey who serves as the Chief District Officer while continuing to work toward additional applications. Administrative transparency and accountability of the country rely heavily on this important initiative according to national officials.
