New partnership aims to give businesses faster, smarter and more secure control over connected devices
Technology giant Cisco and telecom leader AT&T have expanded their partnership to deliver advanced 5G powered Internet of Things (IoT) services for businesses.
At the heart of the move is AT&T’s 5G Standalone network, a true 5G core that does not rely on older 4G infrastructure. By combining this high speed backbone with Cisco’s Mobility Services Platform, IoT Control Center and Converged Core technology, the companies aim to make it easier for enterprises to manage thousands or even millions of connected devices.
The focus is clear: IoT. From smart factories and logistics fleets to healthcare equipment and energy grids, connected devices depend on stable, low latency networks. The integrated solution allows companies to create dedicated virtual “slices” of the network. This means critical IoT data can travel separately from regular traffic, ensuring faster response times and stronger reliability.
According to Cisco, the platform is designed to simplify how businesses build and manage mobile services globally. It also improves device lifecycle management, diagnostics and automation, helping companies monitor and maintain connected systems more efficiently.
The collaboration builds on previous joint efforts between Cisco and AT&T, including secure access and wireless connectivity solutions. As industries increasingly rely on real time data and automation, this partnership signals a broader shift: 5G is no longer just about faster smartphones. It is becoming the backbone of the connected enterprise economy.
