Redress and UNFLN promote a sustainable fashion style of life and fashion in the United Nations and join the world designers to facilitate a change in the industry and make it ethical and circular.
Redress, an NGO headquartered in Asia that has been advocating circular fashion, collaborated with the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network (UNFLN) to organize a potent panel at the SDG Media Zone at the UN General Assembly. To highlight the event, the designers involved showcased the work of Indian, Filipino, and USA-based designers reinventing the lifestyle and fashion industry with sustainability and moral innovation.
According to Dr. Christina Dean, founder of Redress, fashion should not be limited to creativity and business only, but it should respond to environmental and social concerns. The discussion encouraged the world to support responsible lifestyles and fashion brands that contribute towards the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.
Speakers, such as Damini Mittai, Jann Bungcaras, and Isabella Li Kostrzewa, explained the way their work benefits the environment and cultural identity and minimizes waste. Kerry Bannigan, co-founder of UNFLN, emphasized the capacity of fashion to impact employment, gender equity and expression across the globe.
By continuing to work together, Redress and UNFLN will bridge the gap between ethical designers, especially those based in Asia, and speed up systemic transformation in global fashion and lifestyle sectors.
