Some of the most life-changing health challenges are often the ones people speak about the least. Persistent pain, discomfort, changes after pregnancy, bladder concerns, or the physical strain that builds over time are too often accepted as an unavoidable part of life. Yet pelvic health is not a niche concern—it is a vital part of overall well-being for people of every age and gender. When left unaddressed, these issues affect far more than physical health. They impact confidence, relationships, careers, and the simple freedom to move through daily life without hesitation.
The encouraging truth is that many of these challenges can be effectively treated—and often prevented—with the right knowledge, timely care, and a deeper understanding of the body as one interconnected system.
That conviction inspired Dr. Sasha Speer, PT, DPT, to found Auria Pelvic Health. After experiencing the limitations of conventional care herself, she created a practice where patients are truly heard, thoroughly educated, and cared for as whole individuals rather than a collection of symptoms. Today, Auria delivers highly personalized, one-on-one care that goes beyond symptom relief to uncover and address the root causes of pain and dysfunction.
Guided by Dr. Speer's expertise in pelvic health, orthopedics, advanced vagus nerve treatment, sciatica, and sexual health, the practice takes a comprehensive approach that helps patients regain strength, restore confidence, and return to the life they love. While Auria provides specialized pelvic healthcare for people of all ages and genders, it has become a trusted partner for many women navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause, pelvic pain, urinary concerns, and other conditions that have long been overlooked or misunderstood. By combining clinical excellence with genuine human connection, Auria is setting a new standard for compassionate, patient-centered pelvic healthcare.

In Conversation with Dr. Sasha Speer
Every transformative healthcare practice begins with a purpose. What inspired the creation of Auria Pelvic Health, and what gap in healthcare were you determined to address?
Auria Pelvic Health was founded because I believed patients deserved something that had quietly disappeared from much of modern healthcare: to be genuinely heard. Throughout my career, I met people who had spent years living with pelvic pain, postpartum complications, incontinence, or chronic pain after being told their symptoms were simply part of aging, childbirth, or everyday life. Many had seen multiple providers without anyone taking the time to connect the pieces.
I created Auria to challenge that experience. Our philosophy is simple: listening is a clinical skill. Before we prescribe exercises or begin treatment, we take the time to understand the person sitting in front of us. From there, we combine evidence-based rehabilitation with movement science, nervous system regulation, education, and lifestyle medicine. My vision has never been to build just another physical therapy clinic. It has always been to build a healthcare company that helps people understand their bodies, prevent future problems, and feel empowered for life.
Could you briefly walk us through the comprehensive ecosystem of services you offer, and explain what a patient actually experiences from that very first head-to-toe evaluation to their personalized follow-up care?
Every patient begins with a comprehensive head-to-toe evaluation. We assess breathing, posture, movement, strength, mobility, nervous system health, lifestyle habits, and, when appropriate, pelvic floor function. Rather than chasing symptoms, we identify why those symptoms developed in the first place.

Treatment is highly individualized and may include manual therapy, exercise prescription, pregnancy and birth preparation, postpartum rehabilitation, chronic pain management, return-to-sport programming, and practical education that patients can immediately apply at home. Each follow-up visit evolves alongside the patient's progress because healing is not a protocol—it is a partnership.
Personalized, one-on-one care is at the heart of your practice. Why do you believe this model is so critical?
Healthcare works best when relationships come before routines. One-on-one care gives patients space to ask questions, understand their diagnosis, celebrate progress, and navigate setbacks without feeling rushed. Lasting healing happens when people become confident in their own bodies rather than dependent on their providers. That confidence is one of the most meaningful outcomes we can deliver.
There is a common misconception that pelvic health only applies to a small demographic. How is Auria breaking the stigma?
Pelvic health is not a women's issue—it is a human health issue. We care for adolescents, pregnant and postpartum individuals, men, athletes, older adults, and anyone experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction or related musculoskeletal conditions. By normalizing these conversations and educating both patients and referral partners, we are helping replace embarrassment with understanding and silence with solutions.
How is Auria shifting the narrative around postpartum care?
We believe postpartum recovery begins before birth. Preparing for labor, understanding pelvic floor function, and creating a recovery plan should be considered standard healthcare rather than optional care. We help families prepare proactively and recover intentionally so they can return to the activities they love with strength and confidence instead of simply hoping symptoms disappear.
Education is a recurring theme in your care model. Why?
Knowledge changes outcomes. When patients understand how breathing, sleep, stress, strength, movement, and lifestyle influence healing, they become active participants in their own health. Our goal is not simply to reduce pain during treatment—it is to give every patient the tools to remain healthy long after treatment ends.
Looking ahead, what is the next frontier for Auria Pelvic Health?
The future of Auria extends well beyond rehabilitation. We are building an ecosystem centered on lifelong wellness through clinician education, digital patient resources, community workshops, strategic partnerships, and innovative products that help people move better in everyday life.
As part of that vision, we are expanding into a wellness center that will become an integral part of our space. We will be training Pilates and yoga instructors, as well as personal trainers, in pelvic health so our patients have the knowledge, support, and resources to continue caring for their bodies long after treatment ends. We believe one of the greatest opportunities in pelvic healthcare lies in helping people stay ahead of problems. Especially for women who are expecting or have had babies, learning small preventive strategies early can help reduce the risk of issues such as prolapse, back pain, urinary incontinence, and other pelvic health concerns later in life. Our goal is to create the structure and support that empower people to make those changes before problems develop.
Pelvic health will always remain one of our specialties, but our larger mission is to redefine what proactive, relationship-centered healthcare can look like.
What message would you like to share with people hesitant to seek specialized care?
If something doesn't feel right, you deserve answers. Pain, leakage, pelvic pressure, persistent back or hip pain, or difficulty returning to the activities you love are not simply things you have to accept. Many of our patients come to us after spending years searching for answers—often seeing multiple providers without lasting relief. They aren't hopeless cases; they've simply never had someone look at the whole picture. At Auria, we understand that the body functions as one interconnected system. By looking beyond the area that hurts and identifying the underlying contributors, we're often able to help people finally move forward. There is nothing more rewarding than watching someone return to exercise, work, travel, or time with their family after believing they would always live with pain. Healing is possible, and you don't have to navigate it alone.
A Final Reflection
My hope is that Auria's legacy is not simply that we became known as an exceptional pelvic health practice. I hope we help redefine what patients expect from healthcare itself. People should feel listened to, educated, respected, and equipped with the knowledge to care for their bodies throughout every stage of life. If we can inspire a shift from reactive medicine toward proactive wellness—one patient, one clinician, and one community at a time—we will have accomplished exactly what we set out to do.
