In a crowded world of competing interests, Aurora Strategy Global transforms ambition into tangible outcomes.

At CIO Bulletin, we had the distinct privilege of interviewing Marcel Wieder, President and CEO of Aurora Strategy Global. In a compelling conversation, he shared powerful insights into how he and his team of seasoned experts help organizations deliver their messages to government, stakeholders, and the public with proven, results-driven strategies.

Interview Highlights

Marcel Wieder, can you take us back to the very beginning and share the story behind the founding of Aurora Strategy Global? What inspired its creation, and how has that original vision continued to guide the firm’s work today?

I started Aurora Strategy Global in response to clients asking for support in government relations, public affairs, and public relations. I had, and still have, an advertising agency called Arrow Communications Group, which I founded more than 35 years ago. Clients used my advertising skills, which were largely focused on advocacy and political advertising. I developed a strong reputation, winning over 50 international awards for my work. This led to opportunities in government relations (GR) and public relations (PR). Recognizing that I could not do it alone, I started to approach people I knew to ask if they would be interested in working with me on a new venture called Aurora Strategy. We formed a collective of experienced strategists, including former elected officials at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels, senior political staff, and public relations experts. We believed that there was a market for experienced consultants. Now, with over 20 team members across Canada, the United States, and the Middle East, as well as through our involvement in the International Public Relations Network, we can offer local, regional, and international coverage.

Aurora is known for its fully integrated model across government relations, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications. What services do you offer today, and what truly sets you apart in delivering results across diverse sectors?

What sets us apart from other firms is that we are a senior-led firm. We do not have any junior staff. The people you hire have years of experience and can provide the advice and guidance you need without having to deal with the layers of staff that you typically find in most government relations or public relations firms. With our sister ad agency, we can provide a fully integrated campaign in-house without having to deal with multiple consultants. Additionally, as part of the International Public Relations Network, we can offer clients access to many markets through the nearly 50 member agencies in the network.

Your team brings decades of real-world experience inside government, media, and executive communications. How does this depth of insight allow Aurora to help clients not only manage complex decision-making environments, but actively shape them?

As we like to say, “When the stakes are high, experience matters.” Our team has sat around cabinet tables, in boardrooms, and in high-stakes situations. There is no substitute for the knowledge and experience gained over years of public- and private-sector experience.

In an era of rapid technological change and increasingly polarized public discourse, how is Aurora leveraging advocacy advertising, digital strategies, and traditional relationship-building to help clients cut through the noise and deliver credible, impactful messaging?

Authenticity is still what cuts through. Having a strong, credible message that is authentic will help drive your campaign. It also helps to focus on what really matters and what drives people to action. To understand this, we invest in research. Surveys and focus groups help us understand what people are thinking and how they will react to the messages that we test.

As one of the ‘Most Influential Public Affairs Firms to Watch 2026’, what do you see as the defining characteristics that position Aurora Strategy Global as a trusted partner for organizations seeking influence at the federal, provincial/state, and municipal levels?

Our tagline is, “Your Message. Delivered.™” We help clients position their issues in front of government, the media, and stakeholders. With our senior-only team, we have the experience and knowledge to help clients have an impactful campaign.

Are there any new services or innovative approaches currently in the pipeline that your clients and the broader public affairs community should be especially excited about?

Artificial Intelligence is having an impact across all sectors of the economy. We are actively watching how it is evolving and exploring how this can help our clients deliver their message more strategically and cost-effectively.

Looking ahead, what is next for Aurora Strategy Global? How do you envision the firm evolving to meet the shifting demands of policy, politics, and public dialogue over the next several years?

We continue to grow and look to attract experienced people who can open new markets and serve clients who need our services. As a relatively young firm, we have only scratched the surface of our potential.
