Interview Highlights

Mr. Oliver Lo, you founded United Silicon Innovation Corp (USIC) with a mission to support the silicon industry and meet its evolving demands. What inspired you to establish USIC, and how has your vision for the company evolved since its inception?

The semiconductor industry is an industry that has evolved through continuous innovation. Every innovation presents a challenge for leading companies and also a great opportunity for young companies. USIC will not miss any opportunity for innovation. Every innovation in the semiconductor industry will make USIC stronger.

Every leader encounters defining moments. Could you share a pivotal experience in your career that shaped your approach to leadership and influenced the growth of USIC?

In the growth stage, enterprises will encounter many challenges. Transforming challenges into competitive advantages by leveraging past experience and using wisdom will be the difference between A+ enterprises and A-level enterprises.

As a leader in a highly technical field, how would you describe your leadership style? What core values do you uphold in managing both your team and strategic partnerships?

Building trust is an important element of successful leadership and the longevity of a business. The establishment of trust requires the test of time.

You emphasize teamwork as a key driver of success at USIC. How do you go about building and nurturing a team that brings both technical expertise and innovative thinking to the IMSi B2B platform?

The basis of teamwork is respecting each employee's suggestions and recognizing each colleague's efforts and contributions. Leaders need to provide the right and valuable feedback quickly, without hesitation.

USIC's IMSi B2B platform is known for its innovative approach to silicon wafer production and customization. Could you elaborate on how this platform is reshaping the industry and what unique value it offers to your clients?

The focus on test-grade wafers and the accompanying innovative technologies enhances cost efficiency in semiconductor testing processes, providing a distinct edge in the market. This makes USIC vital for both front-end and back-end semiconductor manufacturers when progressing innovations from concept to commercialization.

You’ve mentioned a goal for USIC to become a global leader in silicon wafer supply. What are the key steps you’re taking toward international expansion, and what challenges do you anticipate in achieving this ambitious objective?

In the next three years, we will establish operating bases in countries outside of Taiwan, including Japan, the United States, and Southeast Asia. Securing enough high-quality employees will be the company's biggest challenge.

As we look to the future, are there any upcoming projects or innovations at USIC that particularly excite you? How do you see these initiatives enhancing USIC’s impact on the semiconductor industry?

The company plans to register on the OTC within three years and become a materials technology company listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Our goal is to become a key provider of materials in the semiconductor market. Scale is not our objective; rather, we aim for a significant influence and key impact in the industry.

As someone recognized for their inspiring leadership, what advice would you give to aspiring leaders in the tech and semiconductor industries, especially those looking to drive change and make a lasting impact?

Successful leaders possess three qualities: the ability to lead the team on the right path, the humility to work with smart people, and the willingness to listen to others' suggestions. Listening, collaborating, and taking the right direction are three pieces of advice I offer to leaders.

As the founder of USIC, what kind of legacy do you envision leaving behind in the industry? How do you hope USIC will continue to impact the silicon sector and semiconductor landscape in the years to come?

As ESG becomes a global corporate governance guideline, USIC’s patented refreshed technology is driven by environmental ethos. USIC’s refreshed technology enables a zero-carbon footprint manufacturing process, aligning with ESG requirements. The more wafers purchased from USIC, the lower the carbon emissions encountered. This innovative technology will encourage customers to purchase more wafer products from USIC.
