Retail business leader Darshan Mehta who formerly served as Reliance Brands CEO passed away at 64 years old; he changed how India dealt with luxury and lifestyle retail.
The former Reliance Brands managing director and CEO Darshan Mehta died at 64 years old from a heart attack when he was in Hyderabad. As a leading figure in India's luxury retail business Mehta successfully initiated premium international brands for the Indian market.
Mehta served Reliance Brands for 18 years before his appointment as non-executive director during November 2016. During his time at the company Mehta started as the first employee and subsequently grew both corporate and retail staff numbers to over 750 and 5000 respectively. prostitutetive leadership embarked the company on a journey to establish more than fifty global and Indian partnerships which included Giorgio Armani, Jimmy Choo, Burberry, Manish Malhotra and Rahul Mishra.

Reliance Brands achieved FY24 revenue growth of ₹2,303 crore but suffered a major loss increase of 55% due to continued business struggles. The retail business of India has evolved because of Mehta's significant contributions. The passing away of this industry legendary person signals the conclusion of a historic period for retail business.
