Veeam extends its coverage of hypervisor-based infrastructure, including the support of Red Hat virtualization, to meet the demands of the increasing multi-platform businesses.
Veeam is increasing its ecosystem by adding support to other hypervisor types, with Red Hat technologies at the core of its plan. The company declared Version 13 of its Data Platform and a roadmap to assist up to 13 hypervisors due to an increase in demand for VMware substitutes.
Towards the end of 2026, Veeam will support the Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, which is one of the most potent competitors to VMware Cloud Foundation. This transition demonstrates the increased interest of enterprises in the open hybrid-cloud strategy of Red Hat as organizations become more diverse in terms of virtualization settings.
Other platforms that hit the list of Veeam are XCP-NG, the Citrix Xen Server, HPE Morpheus VM Essentials and Sangfor, which is based in China. The Red Hat integration is, however, unique, as it is enterprise adopted and competitively positioned.
Analysts in the industry report that the licensing policies of Broadcom have seen the migration of customers out of VMware to Red Hat and other open virtualization platforms gain momentum. Veeam aims to ensure robust and comprehensive data protection for workloads transitioning to these platforms.
Another announcement made by Veeam was that it was planning a Universal Hypervisor Integration API that would allow any virtualization vendor to integrate with its backup service smoothly, such as Red Hat. The structure will be able to accommodate future virtualization technology and give the customers all-time flexibility.
Veeam is drawing the line of the emerging virtualization environment as it builds up its relationship with Red Hat and extends to cover various types of hypervisors.
