UBTECH Humanoids Transform China’s Smart Factories

UBTECH uses humanoid robots in 5G-connected factories, where they enhance efficiency in clean energy and new production.

Chinese robotics maker UBTECH is demonstrating how high-end robotics is transforming the manufacturing process in industries through the introduction of its Walker S2 humanoid robots at the first 5G-powered wind power smart factory in China. The facility is the work of wind equipment manufacturer SANY RE and proves the speed at which automation in the clean energy production sector is increasing thanks to robotics and high-speed connectivity.

The Walker S2 humanoid robot is an autonomous robot that moves around the factory floor between workstations and performs tasks, including sorting components, material handling, and adaptive manipulation. The robot has smooth motor control, balance, and real-time perception and replicates human behavior in a safe working environment in the common industrial settings. Expertise observes that robotics and 5G connectivity would allow more flexibility and efficiency on production lines.

In December, UBTECH achieved a significant milestone as it began delivering its 1,000th Walker S2 out of its Liuzhou plant in a bid to highlight a continual rise in the demand of humanoid robotics in industrial applications. The company has also gone global, where it has entered into a contract with Airbus to see their uses in aircraft manufacturing and with Texas Instruments to test the robots on semiconductor manufacturing lines.

Walker S2 is a product of BrainNet 2.0 AI architecture at UBTECH, comprising both decision-making and feedback loops to perform adaptive task execution. The autonomous power management with sophisticated vision systems also underscores the fact that robotics is getting closer to becoming a scalable industrial force in the manufacturing, logistics, and energy fields.
