For companies to succeed in the rapidly changing digital environment, they need to create strong and future-safe technological infrastructures by using specifically designed and tailored software solutions. While they can certainly prepare a thorough digital transformation plan on their own, the extent of specialized engineering and technical knowledge needed is often not available within their internal teams. Furthermore, the problem of allocating resources and the high level of operational overhead often mean that organizations are unable to maintain specialized development units that can continuously work on high-performance software projects. Only when digital products and platforms are built on underlying architectures capable of turning technical accuracy into real, long-term business value can they become high-reward, competitive assets. In these cases, working with a top-tier custom software development partner can put a business on a fast track to innovation.
Lexis Solutions is a prime example of a small software engineering company which, through its thorough expertise in full-stack architecture, cloud engineering, and the design of enterprise software, ensures long-term client success. The company works with progressive European businesses that want custom digital platforms and provides specifically designed software solutions that simplify complicated workflows, update outdated systems, and increase operational efficiency by means of scalable cloud-native architectures. The engineering team at Lexis Solutions has extensive experience in complex technical frameworks and in high-load backend environments and does everything possible to ensure that each solution implemented meets the highest industry standards for reliability, performance, and security.
At CIO Bulletin, we had the distinct honor of speaking with Deyan Denchev, CEO and Co-Founder of Lexis Solutions. He shared compelling insights into how the firm combines agile software development methodologies with rigorous quality engineering to solve complex architectural challenges, solidly establishing the enterprise as a standout leader among the "Top Custom Software Development Companies in Europe 2027."
What inspired the founding of Lexis Solutions, and how has the company’s journey shaped the way you approach custom software development today?
Lexis Solutions began at a hackathon. In 2016, four students met at HackFMI at Sofia University and built Lexis, a machine learning product that analyzed emotion in social media text. It won Best Startup at Junior Achievement's Rising Stars competition and went through the Unistart accelerator, where it also earned special prizes from Microsoft. But the market was not ready: local businesses were reluctant to share the data the product needed. At the same time, companies kept asking us to build software for them, and in 2017 Lexis Solutions became a custom software development company.
That origin shaped two habits we still have. We think like product builders, not order-takers, because we have been on the other side. And we take data seriously, because we learned early that the data, not the code, decides whether a product works.
As one of the “Top Custom Software Development Companies In Europe 2027,” what core services and capabilities does Lexis Solutions offer that consistently set you apart in this competitive market?
Lexis Solutions offers three connected services: AI solutions, including AI agents, AI integrations, and RAG knowledge systems; data solutions, including large-scale web scraping and data pipelines; and custom web and mobile development with React, React Native, and Node.js. We serve startups, scaleups and mid-sized companies, mainly in Germany, the UK, the US and Finland.
What sets us apart is that one team covers all three. A European client can come to us for a mobile app and later add an AI assistant on top of data we already collect for them. Our track record includes revamping StaffSquared's core HR platform, product development for Mindance through to its successful exit, and Balans.bg, a legal and accounting knowledge platform with more than 15,000 users. Lexis Solutions is ISO 9001:2015 certified, a Select partner in the Claude Partner Network, and rated 5.0 on Clutch, where it was named a Top AI Consulting Company in Berlin for 2026.
Your team is known for speaking up when there’s a smarter way forward. How does this hands-on philosophy help clients achieve better outcomes than traditional development approaches?
A brief tells you what a client thinks they need. Our job is to find out what actually solves the problem, and to say so early, when changing direction is cheap.
Two examples. For Pricerobot, a Scandinavian insurance comparison service, we first used browser automation to get every provider working reliably, then moved the most performance-critical providers to direct HTTP integrations, bringing comparisons to under 2.5 minutes. For Barton Malow, the obvious request was an AI chatbot over company data. We proposed a governed assistant that looks up certified tables and business rules before writing any SQL, and in testing it answered 62% of real business questions better than the standard approach. Neither change was in the original brief. Both saved the client from building the wrong thing.
Lexis Solutions has gained recognition for delivering focused AI-powered workflows in just 14 days. How does this rapid, fixed-scope model strengthen your standing in the European custom software landscape?
European mid-sized companies are interested in AI but cautious about open-ended consulting budgets. The Lexis Solutions 14-day model answers that directly: one AI-powered workflow, built and running in production in 14 days, for a fixed fee between EUR 2,000 and EUR 5,000 agreed before work starts.
Clients get a real tool, connected to one of their data sources, with user access, usage tracking, and training, then decide what to scale based on measured results. For a company in Germany or Finland that is used to long discovery phases from large consultancies, this is a low-risk way to test whether a partner in Sofia can deliver.
Data solutions and large-scale web scraping remain a key strength. How do these capabilities give Lexis Solutions an edge when building custom software and AI systems for European businesses?
An AI system is only as good as the data it runs on, and most AI projects stall on data, not models. Because Lexis Solutions builds both, we can deliver the full chain: collecting external data, cleaning it, combining it with internal data, and putting an AI layer on top.
Our data work runs at real scale. We publish more than 300 public scrapers in the Apify Store and maintain private client systems, some with more than 200 scrapers monitored every day. For Finansi.bg, that combination of data engineering and AI meant processing more than 2 million financial reports and analyzing 416,000 companies every month. For European businesses, it means one partner is accountable for both the data and the software that uses it.
Beyond the Claude Partner Network, Lexis Solutions is a member of the Lemon.io partner network and BESCO, the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association. What role do these partnerships play in how you serve clients across Europe and beyond?
Each partnership covers a different part of how Lexis Solutions works. We are a member of the Lemon.io partner network, a marketplace that connects startups with vetted software developers. Being part of it means our engineers have passed independent screening for technical skill and communication, and it connects us with fast-moving product teams in the US and Europe that need senior engineers without building a full in-house team.
BESCO, the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association, connects us to the Bulgarian startup and technology ecosystem. It keeps us close to founders, investors, and the policy discussions that shape how technology companies grow in Bulgaria, and many of the founders we meet there are building for international markets from day one, which is exactly where we work.
Together with our certified partnerships with Apify for web scraping and DigitalOcean for cloud infrastructure, and our Select tier in the Claude Partner Network, these memberships give European clients something a website cannot: a software partner that independent organizations have already vetted.
In a rapidly evolving European market for custom software development, what strategic priorities will help Lexis Solutions continue to stand out among the top companies in the region?
Focus. We will keep Lexis Solutions founder-led and hands-on, so clients always work directly with senior engineers and the founders themselves. And we will stay specialized enough to be the obvious choice for a few problems rather than an average choice for many.
The priorities for the coming years are AI integration in established companies with years of data and processes behind them, AI governance that compliance teams can audit, and deep work in a few industries where we already have results, especially construction and preconstruction, financial data, and online reputation. We will keep investing in Claude certification across the team and in the quality processes behind our ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Being named a Select partner in the Claude Partner Network is a notable achievement. How is this partnership enhancing the AI solutions you deliver to clients across Europe?
Lexis Solutions achieved the Select tier in the Services Track of Anthropic's Claude Partner Network in 2026. Getting there required certified architects, joint production customers, and a published customer story, and around 90% of our engineers are now Claude Certified Architects.
For clients, the benefit is practical. Claude models already run in production systems we have built, from extracting standardized figures out of more than 2 million financial reports for Finansi.bg to drafting legal review removal complaints for Onno Plus. The partnership gives our team access to Anthropic's partner resources and training, which shortens the path from idea to a reliable production system. We remain model-agnostic where it matters and choose the right model for each task, but for complex reasoning over company documents, Claude is often our first choice.
Looking ahead to 2027 and beyond, what new services or capabilities are in the pipeline that clients should be excited about?
Four areas. AI governance services that help companies put permissions, audit trails, and human approval points around their AI systems. Large-scale speech-to-text and text processing, turning recorded calls and documents into structured data. AI solutions for construction and preconstruction companies, from cost estimation to invoice checking. And role-based knowledge systems that organize decades of company documents and data so every employee can find answers, limited to what their role is allowed to see.
All four build on work Lexis Solutions has already delivered in production. We would rather expand what is proven than chase every new trend.
