The Jets lost 37-15 to the Steelers despite Davante Adams. The loss snapped a four game skid for New York, and Aaron Rodgers simply had two pick sixes for himself in the defeat.
Despite breaking the bank to acquire All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, the New York Jets are 2-5 and will lose ugly by a resounding 37-15 decision to the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the star receiver, reunited with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after being traded to Las Vegas earlier in the week, didn’t light up chemistry with his quarterback they last saw on their years in Green Bay.
After being named interim coach, Jeff Ulbrich accepted that those concerns are very real. “You can see the great synergy,” he said. “But it’s been a second since they played together. As we go along in time, I think those two's relationship as well as their productivity is going to increase.”
Rodgers finished 24 of 39 for 276 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. This was after the Jets had taken a promising lead of 15-6 at one point, the Steelers rattled on 31 points without reply, thanks to some costly blunders from Rodgers.
“I threw a wide one to him on the first one,” said Rodgers. “It was a bad throw; it just shifted the focus of the game completely.”
In addition, it is expected that star pass rusher Haason Reddick who is currently in a hold out mode will join the Jets but the defensive unit was not able to contain the tentacles of Pitt's offense which mounted 409 yards in total offense.
“In the locker room, we must find a way to maintain the faith, and begin a run,” said Rodgers. “The first one has to be won if we are to win 10 in a row. We cannot do it if we do not win the first one.”
