Dwyane Wade Forever: Miami Heat Unveil Monumental Tribute to Their Greatest Star

Miami honors its all-time greatest player as Dwyane Wade becomes the first Heat star immortalized outside the arena.

In a historic moment for Miami Heat fans and NBA legend Dwyane Wade, the team unveiled a statue of Wade outside the Kaseya Center, making him the first Heat player ever to be honored in this way. The statue, revealed just months after Heat President Pat Riley announced the tribute, cements Wade’s legacy as Miami's all-time leading scorer and celebrates his deep ties to the franchise. Wade and Udonis Haslem, his long-time teammate, are the only two players to have been on all three championship-winning Heat teams.

"This is surreal," Wade reflected as he stood before the statue. “I wanted to feel this moment—to really feel it. Life goes by so fast, and often, we’re already onto the next thing. I wanted to stop and take it all in.”

Accompanied by a commemorative wall listing his many career achievements, the statue now stands at the arena’s main entrance, where fans can honor Wade’s legacy. A Hall of Famer and one of just six former Heat players to have their jerseys retired, Wade joins Miami greats such as Haslem, Chris Bosh, and Alonzo Mourning in the franchise’s pantheon.

An in-game celebration is set for Monday, marking the 21st anniversary of Wade’s debut with Miami, as the Heat take on the Detroit Pistons.
