Rafael Nadal plans to take some time off after the Olympics from his tennis career and make future plans.

The men's doubles quarterfinal loss Rafael Nadal suffered at the Paris Olympics in 2024 seems to have put his tennis career to an end. In straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, Americans Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram defeated Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, which follows Nadal's loss to Novak Djokovic in the singles tournament's second round.

The legendary tennis player acknowledges that his Olympic performance may be the last of a significant chapter in his professional life. He had injury concerns in the lead-up to the games. Even if the week didn't finish the way he had hoped, Nadal said, "It's been a fun week, positive in many ways.” He admitted not being at the required level for a medal and hinted at the possibility of ending his career at Roland Garros, where he has historically excelled.

Nadal plans to take some time off to reflect on his future. “For me, a stage has ended; I’ll go home, disconnect, and once I have a clear idea of my next stage, I’ll let you know,” he stated. Although he remains listed for the US Open, he is uncertain about participating. Nadal is also going to play at the Laver Cup in Berlin, a venue marking Roger Federer’s retirement.
