At the 2nd DAE Conclave in Mumbai, scientists spotlight advanced storage solutions shaping India’s clean energy and technology future.
India’s growing strength in nuclear science and frontier technologies took center stage at the 2nd DAE Conclave (DAEC 2026), held at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, from January 14 to 18. The five-day event brought together nearly 1,000 scientists, researchers, engineers, and young scholars from across the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) ecosystem.
Centered on the theme “Creating Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future through Nuclear Horizons,” the conclave highlighted how advanced research is translating into real-world solutions, especially in energy and storage technologies. Among the most discussed areas was hydrogen production and storage, seen as a critical pillar for India’s clean energy transition and long-term energy security.
Experts emphasized that efficient, safe, and scalable storage technologies are just as important as energy generation itself. Advanced nuclear research, materials science, and isotope technologies are enabling breakthroughs that could make large-scale energy storage more reliable and affordable for industries and communities alike.
The conclave fostered open dialogue between senior scientists and young innovators, encouraging collaboration across disciplines. Leaders from DAE and the Atomic Energy Commission stressed the need for sustained investment in basic science, indigenous research, and talent development to maintain technological leadership.
Live technology demonstrations, interactive exhibitions, and research posters helped simplify complex science, bringing cutting-edge storage and nuclear technologies closer to a wider audience. Beyond technical sessions, lab visits and outreach programs reflected a strong commitment to education and societal impact.
DAEC 2026 reinforced a clear message: India’s future-ready storage technologies, powered by nuclear science, are key to building a sustainable, self-reliant, and energy-secure nation.
