Featuring Sam Smith, Sade, André 3000, and more, “Transa” is set to raise awareness for transgender issues with 46 tracks.
The highly expected charity album "Transa," due November 22, 2024, brings together an group of top artists to spotlight transgender awareness. The project, led by the Red Hot organization, features a diverse lineup including Sam Smith, Sade, André 3000, and Jayne County. Spanning 46 tracks, the album aims to shine a light on the challenges and achievements of the transgender community.
“Transa” is a return to Red Hot’s activist roots, meaningful previous work like “Red Hot + Blue.” It includes contributions from both well-known and lesser-known transgender musicians, aiming to humanize and amplify diverse voices within the community. The album is structured in eight thematic sections, reflecting the emotional journey of exploring and accepting gender identity.
The project’s title nods to Caetano Veloso’s 1972 album, symbolizing the resilience of transgender individuals. With artists ranging from Sade’s poignant track about her son to André 3000’s experimental 26-minute piece, "Transa" promises to be a profound and expansive work. While physical album sales have declined, Red Hot focuses on raising awareness, making "Transa" a significant cultural and musical event.
