BMW Takes Action to Address Airbag Inflator Issue, Ensuring Vehicle Safety
BMW of North America has followed the path to recalled 391,000 vehicles across the United States because of safety issues concerning with the airbags inflators. The recall is still associated with potential harm to individuals through the formation of possibilities of injuries or even loss of lives due to explosions of inflators.
On Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the recall is related to some BMW cars with the following models: 2006-2011 3 Series Sedan including 324i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi 2006-2012 3 Series Sportswagon: 325 The problem mainly revolves around Takata airbag inflators that can explode and fire sharp metal fragments that can be fatal to the vehicle occupants.
Until the last update, despite of this problem, NHTSA has reported that BMW has not gotten any report on the accident or injury cases connected to this problem in the US.
BMW dealers will carry out inspections and where it is required, the driver’s airbag module will be replaced at no charge under the recall. Letters notifying the owners of the recall are due to be sent from the 23rd of August, keeping the owners of these vehicles informed.
This move by BMW proves it is concerned with the safety of its customers and the adherence to automotive safety standards. The action also seeks to assuage any known or latent risks that could be posed by the defective airbag inflators to the company’s reputation and BMW vehicles on the roads.
