Indian Company Celebrates DGCA Approval for Advanced Agricultural UAS
Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace, an Indian defense and aerospace technology company, has added another significant achievement to its record by securing a type certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for its latest unmanned aircraft system (UAS), the FWDA10-V1. This medium-class rotorcraft, a Hexa-copter, is specifically designed for agricultural purposes, offering an efficient and cost-effective solution for farmers.
The FWDA10-V1 is equipped with a spray system that can hold up to 10.5 liters of agrochemicals, making it ideal for crop management and protection. With a maximum all-up weight of 28.2 kg, this advanced drone meets the rigorous demands of aerial agricultural applications.
Suhas Tejaskanda, the founder of Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace, expressed his gratitude towards the DGCA for its thorough review and certification process. "This achievement is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team," he said. "Our vision is to make India a global hub of drone technology and manufacturing, staying true to our motto, 'saving jawans, serving kisans'."
According to DGCA regulations, operating a UAS in India requires a type certificate unless exempt. This certification ensures that the drone's design, including its propellers, engines, and control systems, meets all necessary airworthiness, noise, and emission standards.
With this new certification, Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace is poised to enhance its contributions to India's agricultural sector, providing innovative technology that supports farmers across the nation.
