Radisson Hotels Partners with AWS and Deloitte to Modernize its IT Infrastructure

Transforming hospitality operations through strategic cloud migration, enhanced security, and rapid service innovation.

Radisson Hotels recently announced its collaboration with Deloitte and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to achieve strategic cloud migration and transform its operations. This fulfills its objective of meeting evolving business demand by migrating on-premises systems to a dynamic cloud-based environment. Through this shift, the company attains the flexibility required to expand and innovate service offerings. Furthermore, transitioning to AWS Cloud led to significant improvements in operational efficiency, including improved speed, accessibility, integration, and overall IT performance for Radisson to work with. In particular, the company can now enjoy the benefits of improved application performance and a quicker rollout of new services, with both factors playing their part in ensuring improved customer experience through a swifter, agile response to business fluctuations.

Moreover, Radisson is assured of a secure and resilient environment by leveraging AWS’ security framework. It can leverage a cloud infrastructure that protects sensitive customer and business data, strengthens compliance, and reduces risk exposure. Deloitte’s AWS-based migration framework guided Radisson with a structured planning phase in preparation for transitioning over 150 legacy servers and applications to the AWS Cloud without interrupting operations. The project was executed in two phases:

AWS Landing Zone Evolution – This focused on enhancing the existing AWS Landing Zone to make room for migrated applications. Supporting high availability, disaster recovery, and backup requirements was prioritized by integrating new functionalities.

Discovery, Analysis, and Migration – All applications within the physical data center, including virtual machines and physical servers, were identified during the critical discovery and analysis phase. Also, mapping dependencies between applications was given due importance since it constitutes a key factor in defining migration waves.

Furthermore, the AWS services utilized were across four primary categories, including a range of migration tools like AWS Datasync, networking services like AWS Transit Gateway, Infrastructure like AWS Control Tower, and cost management software like AWS Cost Explorer. According to CIO Bulletin, the learnings for all parties centered on collaboration and communication, proper planning, and optimizing costs post-migration.
