Cardiac Dimensions Appoints Renowned Expert as New CMO

Cardiac Dimensions recruits physician Dr. William T. Abraham to lead clinical strategy and regulatory activities and increase the use of Carillon therapy worldwide.

Dr. William T. Abraham has been appointed CMO of Cardiac Dimensions, and Cardiac Dimensions is strengthening its leadership as it proceeds to the U.S. regulatory endorsement of the Carillon Mitral Contour System. A world-renowned specialist in heart failure and device-based treatment, the CMO will lead the clinical and regulatory efforts of the company as it expands into Europe.

Most recently, Dr. Abraham was CMO at V-Wave Ltd., where he participated in the U.S. pivotal trial of its therapy with transcatheters to treat interatrial shunts and further developed the therapy, eventually sold by Johnson and Johnson. He is a Distinguished Professor at The Ohio State University and has published more than 650 peer-reviewed papers and directed over 50 multicenter clinical trials.

The CEO of Cardiac Dimensions, Rick Wypych, has reported that the success of the EMPOWER Trial and the wider acceptance of Carillon therapy as a method will rely on the skills of the new CMO. Dr. Abraham stated that he was excited to be part of the team and that the therapy would help patients get better, which could save their future treatment opportunities.
