Federal Bank selected Vidya Balan as its initial brand ambassador to improve cross-country market positioning while carrying out inclusive advertising through digital channels.

Federal Bank transformed its history by selecting actress Vidya Balan as its inaugural brand ambassador during its 93-year existence. The banking institution made the announcement through an event held in Mumbai on March 5th 2025. The decision supports Federal Bank's plan to establish itself as one of India's leading private financial institutions across the nation.

C.V.S. Manian of Federal Bank stated that renowned Kerala-based Balan assists in connecting the north-south regions for the bank as it moves out of its regional market base. According to Manian the company needed Balan to build its national market reach. As a strategic business decision Federal Bank chose Balan because it enables the financial institution to reach a more diverse audience with focus on women since they represent a demographic that typically lacks representation in banking advertisements.

M V S Murthy who leads the bank as CMO expressed his firm commitment to inclusive marketing by choosing to reject gendered advertising approaches. The marketing campaign head Murthy confirmed that Balan's appearance would mostly exist in digital platforms between 2025 and the start of the Indian Premier League.

The service-oriented approach of Federal Bank is “Rishta Aap Se Hai, Sirf App Se Nahi” which Murthy explained during the briefing. According to M V S Murthy digital banking has become popular yet outstanding customer service stands as the main factor distinguishing Federal Bank from competitors.

Federal Bank plans to reach different audiences throughout entire India with its strong marketing funding intended to increase brand credibility.
