Activists are concerned about environmental and infrastructural issues. By the same token, don’t they understand that Navi Mumbai budget surplus for 2025 to 2026 will go to development and governance.
Shinde Kailas, the NMMC commissioner, assumed a revenue for the 2025 to 2026 fiscal of 5709.95 crore. Shinde spent the surpluses 5684.95 crores, which leaves Shinde with a remainder of 25 crores. Shinde stated that it avers in favor of development and governance that the budget has continued to keep the tax rates unchanged in the twenty-first consecutive year.
The budget allocates employment, education, health, transport, water, environmental protection, and infrastructure. It will create and build sustained growth. Navi Mumbai's relegation in the 'Super Swachh League'-an honor shared with Indore and Surat- will further emphasize all ongoing promotion activities the city champions in terms of cleanliness and governance.
There will be a special committee formed for the strategy to work for revenue generation by perhaps converting dormant properties to commercial activities. Shinde allocated Rs 500 crore for developmental projects such as water source augmentation and extension of the coastal road. While the NMMC may augment technology and citizen feedback into urban planning, public participation will continue to steer budget decisions.
However, these issues found useful audience among the local activists. Bhavna Bhatia criticized the economic budget for being very superficial in the items of cleanliness and development. Another observation was made by an ex-corporator, Divya Gaikwad, who lamented the absolute lack of attention paid to the aging infrastructure. RTI activist Anarjit Chauhan expressed concern about the environmental effects of all increasing digital hoardings, wanting a better compliance as well as governance in the city planning.
