pgEdge proposes Control Plane to streamline orchestration of PostgreSQL and enhance management of enterprise databases in the software both globally and in multi-cloud environments.
pgEdge has announced the release of the Control Plane, a distributed orchestration system that can be used to simplify the operation of PostgreSQL and advance the management of enterprise databases. The tool offers a declarative API that allows organizations to design, deploy and upgrade databases in several hosts to minimize complexity and operations overhead.
Control Plane, which is developed with pgEdge Enterprise Postgres and pgEdge Distributed Postgres, supports the increasing need to standardize database operations across VMs, bare metal servers and multi-cloud environments. It has high availability, automated failover, read replicas and active-active deployments based on Spock, which provide resiliency to mission-critical applications.
Control Plane allows one to easily scale up a single-region configuration to a global architecture without having to overhaul the infrastructure. Immutable infrastructure support also enables teams to provision new hosts without trouble and move workloads around, improving reliability and reducing the effort of updating and security patching.
The other features are automatic backup and restore, maintenance with no down-time and host support with multiple databases to support the development, testing, and staging of websites. These features assist organizations in streamlining the operations of PostgreSQL and gaining the advantage of the uniform database management.
According to pgEdge leaders, Control Plane will do its job by removing operational friction and letting staff concentrate on application development instead of being preoccupied with infrastructure problems. The system is entirely open source and can be implemented in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and hybrid architecture and on-premises systems.
pgEdge is set to become one of the most important participants in the current database management with Control Plane to be able to provide scalability and operational readability to global workloads.
