Nuevo Leon leads with the Todos por un Aire + Limpio program to enhance the quality of the air by a government-business alliance.
Nuevo Leon is moving forward in gaining environmental sustainability with the introduction of the Todos por un Aire + Limpio (Everyone for Cleaner Air) program, which has the goal of improving air quality in the Monterrey Metropolitan Area. The signing was headed by Governor Samuel Garcia with the support of the Ministry of Environment and other leading business chambers, such as CAINTRA, CANACO, CANADEVI and COPARMEX.
The target establishes socialized, quantifiable measures in an attempt to ease dust particles containing industrial emissions and facilitate renewable energy conversion. "It is all about the will, like the chambers and the government saying yes, we could, and the adherence to environmental sustainability," Garcia said.
Some of the major promises involve reforestation, the growth of mass transport, and the reduction of the emission of greenhouse gases. The program incorporates 240 companies in the State Program on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (PIGECA), improves the monitoring system of air quality, and seeks to raise the number of clean air days.
Organized on the principles of collaboration, innovation, and transparency, the initiative is based on five priority areas, including green spaces, responsible mobility, reducing emissions, green leadership training, and environmental awareness. Such activities will see Nuevo Leon established as a model in the practice of sustainable development and environmental sustainability in the country.
Cooperation of business and government highlights the opportunities of public-private partnerships and the level of development of cleaner air, long-term environmental stewardship, and tangible gains towards a greener future.
