NLASO provided free legal help to an annual record of 35,000 citizens who settled more than 32,000 disputes in Bangladesh last year.

The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) reached more than 35,000 underprivileged citizens last year by providing free legal assistance as its highest achievement since its initiation. The government continues its mission to increase legal service access for people in need by expanding the number of beneficiaries beyond previous standards.

NLASO managed to solve 32,166 disputes in 2024 throughout the nation after resolving only 526 disputes in 2015. The organization started operations and has managed 146,121 legal disputes for citizens in civil and criminal and family cases.

NLASO began operations under the Legal Aid Services Act of 2000 following its establishment by the government for providing justice access to lower-income residents. Through ADR and other legal aid services the justice system found relief from mounting pressure while granting citizens better ways to resolve their disputes amicably.

The widespread success of the program resulted in a steady increase of beneficiaries from which the program now helps over 1.19 million people. The increasing number of beneficiaries demonstrates the need to offer free legal assistance which becomes essential for individuals who cannot afford legal representation toward maintaining fairness and justice.

Several nationwide rallies and discussions are part of the National Legal Aid Day events which commemorate this success.
