According to the White House, President Joe Biden will travel to Wisconsin on Wednesday to unveil Microsoft Corp.'s plans for a $3.3 billion technology project.
The Foxconn factory, valued at $10 billion, was planned to be built in Racine County, southeast Wisconsin, and was once called "the eighth wonder of the world" by former President Donald Trump. However, Foxconn quickly revised its plans. This is where the Microsoft facility in Racine County, Wisconsin, will be located.
The White House says that Microsoft's plans will create 2,300 union construction jobs and around 2,000 permanent jobs. Since Biden became president, about 4,000 jobs have been created in Racine, while it is estimated that the Trump administration eliminated around 1,000 manufacturing jobs. By 2030, Microsoft and Gateway Technical College plan to train 1,000 individuals for jobs in data centers and other fields. Additionally, the White House stated that Microsoft will seek to train 1,000 company executives to integrate AI into their operations.
Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate for reelection in 2024, will be meeting with volunteers in Racine's black community during his fourth visit to Wisconsin this year. This is part of his campaign strategy for the seven battleground states. Biden is working to win more support from black voters before the presidential election in November, as recent national surveys show a close race between him and Republican Donald Trump. The president will meet with volunteers who are being trained by campaign officials to use a new smartphone app. The app helps volunteers reach out to people they know for voting purposes.
Biden's team announced a $14 million ad campaign on Wednesday. It will focus on black, Latino, and Asian voters and include a seven-figure investment. Additionally, the campaign will debut an advertisement on Thursday called "Terminate," which will highlight Trump's criticism of American health care. By the end of May, the campaign claimed to have 200 offices and 500 employees as part of its expansion. To grow in important communities, the initiative aims to reach out to more small businesses this month.
