Deal with Juniper creates powerhouse to meet soaring AI demands and doubles HPE’s network business
On July 2, 2025, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) finalized its $13.4 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks, a transformative move announced on January 9, 2024. Priced at $40 per share, the deal merges Juniper into a wholly-owned HPE subsidiary, positioning the company as a leader in AI-driven networking. The combined entity forms an $11 billion networking giant, set to capture a chunk of the $50 billion networking market.
HPE aims to deliver a cutting-edge, cloud-native portfolio tailored for AI workloads, doubling its networking business and boosting its operating income by over 50%. The acquisition, approved by the U.S. Department of Justice on June 28, 2025, after divestitures and licensing agreements, is expected to enhance HPE’s earnings from year one and generate $450 million in annual savings by year three. It also adds 20,000 enterprise customers, opening doors for cross-selling innovative solutions.
Funded through cash reserves, commercial paper, and term-loan credit facilities disclosed in September 2024, the deal showcases HPE’s strategic financial planning. Juniper shareholders received $40 per share in cash, marking the end of their direct ownership.
This acquisition strengthens HPE’s edge-to-cloud offerings, from AI-native networking to data center infrastructure, cementing its role as a trailblazer in the tech world’s AI revolution.
