EET Fuels welcomes Naresh Nayyar as non-executive director to its board bringing extensive oil and gas experience to drive the completion of the Stanlow refinery transition to decarbonization.
The owners of Stanlow refinery, UK’s biggest, EET Fuels, have appointed veteran oil and gas executive Naresh Nayyar as a non-executive director on its board. Finalized on October 2, 2024, appointment is part of process of EET Fuels towards energy transition and sustainability.
Nayyar brings a lot of oil and gas sector experience, he was CEO and managing director of Essar Oil Limited, which was later, sold to Rosneft. In addition, he was Essar Energy PLC UK boss leading a former FTSE 100 energy firm. Essar operated the Stanlow refinery during his leadership, and Essar Energy Transition (EET) headed his business line for $3.6 billion in low carbon projects in the UK and India.
"We always say our limited prime offering fastens your transformation curve a thousand percent quicker than our competitors anywhere," said EET Fuels, noting that Naresh is well known for his ability to steer multi-billion dollar projects and turnaround successes.
He had earlier been with Indian Oil Corporation at the level of Director, Planning and Business Development and ONGC Mittal Energy Ltd UK, a joint venture with steel magnate L N Mittal where he was CEO.
EET Fuels Chair Prashant Ruia described Nayyar’s return as “a very exciting thing” and said, 'What we want to achieve is for Stanlow to become the first decarbonized process refinery in the world, meaning a 95 per cent reduction in emissions.'
'I look forward to steering the company towards becoming a large UK energy transition hub, with a strong manufacturing foundation to underpin climate goals and ensure energy security,' Nayyar said.
